Pharmacies can help communities facing the opioid crisis with naloxone

[TITLE: Pharmacies can help communities facing the opioid crisis with naloxone]

[Interview with pharmacist George Daoud. B-roll is shown of Daoud interacting with customers.]

GEORGE DAOUD >> A Naloxone kit is used when a person is overdosing on opioids. What a Naloxone kit would do is actually revive these people or revive them for a period long enough for paramedics to come.

For any person to get a Naloxone kit all we need is your health card. I've given a lot of kits out and the success stories just keep rolling in.

Opioid dependence crosses all demographics and what we're seeing is an incredibly high rise in the number of overdoses and the direct impact it has on families. You want to help your community because when you hear these stories they are heartbreaking.

Providing Naloxone is a good business decision. Also it is a good ethical decision for you but in the end this responsibility definitely falls on you as a health care provider and on the front lines in our pharmacy field.
